Sometimes I felt like I was on top of the world, and at other times I felt lost and confused. Looking back, I wish I’d had a roadmap – a guidebook – to help me discover and focus on the things that really mattered to me, and to help me develop the strength and courage to live by those things. I believe – no, I know – that there are few things in life that matter more than having a clear sense of who we are. Matters of the Heart: A guide to living and loving your teen years is my gift to you – it’s the guidebook I wish someone had given me during my teen years. In this book, you’ll have an opportunity to actively
participate in the process of self-discovery, chronicling personal experiences that relate to each of the book’s major themes. Ever since I was 9 years old, I’ve written in a “journal.” Even
then, I guess I instinctively knew that writing was a natural way to
express my feelings, uncertainties, desires, and dreams. In writing, I
found an internal compass that helped me navigate my way through
adolescence. I found healing and strength. I found – and I believe
you will also find – a natural, enlightening, and comforting way to express
feelings and to make important personal breakthroughs.
I wasn’t just inspired to write this book, I was compelled to write it – and
I know that as you read Matters of the Heart you, too, will feel compelled to
write – about your thoughts, your feelings, your dreams and goals, and
about what matters most to you. Yeah, it’s a little more work, but trust me,
the effort is worth it – because you’re worth it!
